Liquidation

There are three types of liquidation. If the troubled company is insolvent then it may be that it enters into a Compulsory Liquidation or a Creditors Voluntary Liquidation. In the event that the company is still solvent but the situation demands that the company be wound up, it could be entered into a Members Voluntary Liquidation.

There can come time in the life of a company where it just doesn't make sense to keeping throwing good money after bad and while such decisions are always painful the alternative can be far worse.

Debts are mounting and there is little chance of surviving. Creditors are banging on your door, filling your letter box with collection notices and ringing your phone off the hook. With so much pressure your nights are sleepless, your days are loaded with stress and your health is beginning to fail.

Getting out is no longer a hypothetical. It has become an imperative. You can deny all the signs and stick your head in the sand but that won't change the inevitable fact that the company is going to close. What remains to be seen is if you will take the bull by the horns and make it happen on your terms or if you'll let your creditors take charge and make it happen on their terms.

Those who have been smart enough to take positive action often come out in one piece and healthy enough to pick up and start again. Those that have let the creditors take charge usually do not. This is not the time to be faint hearted.
